Look at tread depth across the full width, sidewall cracks, cuts and repairs, and whether all tyres are the same size and type. Mismatched tyres on a driven axle cause transmission wind-up and uneven wear.

Check for oil or grease contamination on the rims, loose wheel nuts, and whether the machine sits level. Twin-tyre machines should be checked for debris trapped between the tyres. Tyres are a real cost item, so price replacement into your offer if the set is worn.
